Torus Sanctuary

Torus’s mission to keep heart and art alive in a world that often forgets their importance. We invite dancers and other artists to participate in authentic in-person experiences that open portals to mystical worlds, as well as tell stories that touch the soul. What started as a creative wellness studio space in 2023, has rapidly evolved into something more. Through unique performances and activations, Torus grounds fantasy into reality with human-made artistic expression as the conduit.

Ushering in a new paradigm of performance art, we’re offering a holistic approach to showmanship; one that connects foundational dance training to nourishment for the mind, body, and soul. The result is a dance education accessible to all walks of life, while nurturing individualized artistic growth. Torus draws inspiration from the global electronica scene, serving as a vessel that brings high-vibrational electronic music to life, empowers mystical artists, and channels the sacred, unifying spirit of the dance floor.

Artistic Director

Olivia Leitstein-Yong, more commonly known as Liv Yong is a performing artist whose career has spanned international stages and renowned music festivals. Olivia brings a rich blend of experience to her artistry with a training journey that includes classical dance training and specialized teacher certifications from Melbourne, Australia. Olivia has also completed a RYTT program with a focus on Yin Yoga from the Soul of Yoga Institute in her hometown of Encinitas, California, as well as a BFA in Visual Effects from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

Inspired by large LED screen visuals at live shows, she pursued education in Animation and Visual Effects in her early professional career, which led her to her to an interest in creating surrealist digital imagery. She weaves her eclectic creative modalities into performing art projects that reflect her passion for electronic music. While performance art is her biggest passion, her background in digital art has contributed to a choreographic style that weaves ethereal mysticism with sacred geometric symmetry, complimenting live DJ sets with a desire to include live dancers in their production. Liv’s well rounded background as a dancer, digital artist, and performer offers a sense of other-worldly creativity that acts as a portal for collaborators and audience members alike. A lifelong lover of electronic music since receiving her first iPod, Olivia spent her twenties immersed in various corners of the global scene. “Arts and culture are among my greatest values,” she continues. “Because we live in a modern world that doesn’t always nurture them, my mission with Torus is to serve as a vessel that brings high-vibrational electronic music to life."

Electric Roots

Torus draws inspiration from the global electronica scene, bringing genres such as progressive trance, ambient, chillgressive, and psy-trance to life through movement and visual storytelling. “I needed an outlet to connect with a world I often feel homesick for,” shares artistic director Olivia. “My hometown and current base in Southern California aren’t too familiar with these sub-genres of electronic music. That’s what inspired me to create choreography that gives these sounds a platform—while crafting utopian worlds onstage that reflect how this music makes me feel.”
